Ingredients:
For the Hamburger Steaks:
1 ½ pounds ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 small onion (finely chopped)
1 egg
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
For the Gravy:
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion (sliced)
1 ½ cups beef broth
½ cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water for thickening)
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
1️⃣ Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2️⃣ Make the Hamburger Steaks: In a bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Shape into 4–6 oval patties.
3️⃣ Sear the Steaks: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the hamburger steaks for about 2–3 minutes per side, until browned (they don’t need to be fully cooked). Transfer to the baking dish.
4️⃣ Prepare the Gravy: In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the sliced onions until soft. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then stir in the heavy cream. Add the cornstarch slurry and cook until slightly thickened.
5️⃣ Bake: Pour the gravy over the hamburger steaks. Cover with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes, until the steaks are fully cooked and the flavors meld together.
6️⃣ Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve hot with mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or roasted vegetables. Enjoy!
