Pineapple Habanero Hot Sauce
Ingredients
– 2 cups fresh pineapple, chopped
– 4-6 habanero peppers, stemmed and seeded (adjust for spice level)
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– ½ small onion, chopped
– ½ cup apple cider vinegar
– ¼ cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional, to balance heat)
– ½ teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for depth)
– ¼ cup water (adjust for desired consistency)

Directions

1.Sauté Aromatics
– In a saucepan over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes until softened.

2. Blend Ingredients
– In a blender, combine the cooked onion and garlic, chopped pineapple, habanero peppers, apple cider vinegar, lime juice, salt, honey or sugar (if using), and cumin.

3.Adjust Consistency
– Blend until smooth, adding water if needed to reach your desired thickness.

4. Simmer the Sauce
– Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and simmer over low heat for 5-10 minutes to enhance the flavors.

5. Cool and Store
– Let the sauce cool before transferring to a sterilized glass jar or bottle.

Storage Information
– Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
– For longer storage, freeze in small portions or process in a water bath for canning.

Serving Suggestions
– Drizzle over tacos, grilled chicken, or seafood.
– Use as a dipping sauce for fries or plantains.
– Mix with mayonnaise or sour cream for a spicy aioli.
